Spencer Bonaventure Tracy (April 5, – June 10, ) was an American actor, noted for his natural style and versatility. One of the major stars of Hollywood's Golden Age, Tracy won two Academy Awards for Best Actor from nine nominations, sharing the record for nominations in that category with Laurence Olivier. Veteran screenwriter and author Larry Kramer says some of the biggest movie stars of Hollywood's Golden Age -- including Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy -- were gay. Film historian William J. Mann has written a new biography of Katherine Hepburn. In it, he drops what seems like a major bombshell about Spencer Tracy. According to Mann, the famed Hepburn/Tracy love affair was essentially manufactured by Hepburn and writer Garson Kanin after Tracy's death.
